The difference between CCMS and CDP

It can be hard to keep track of all systems within technical information. Here we clarify the overall function of a CCMS and a CDP and how they differ from each other.

The relationship and differences between a CCMS and a CDP

A Component Content Management System (CCMS) is a tool where you create content in standalone topics and tag the content with metadata. This means that topics of content can be identified and combined to suit specific product configurations, users and output channels. If you need to update content, it's enough to update the topic(s) of concern.

A Content Delivery Platform (CDP) is an engine that handles information requests from users. It picks out the relevant content from a CCMS and potentially other sources and distributes it to output channels, such as web portals, smartphone apps or product interfaces.

This table clarifies what each system is used for.
