
Portal to understand how complex products work
In 2019, Aleido launched a web portal together with one of the leaders within the automotive industry. The aim was to give aftersales personnel a deeper understanding of how the cars function in a more effective way, replacing the traditional printed book. The portal has continuously been updated and maintained by Aleido with information for new and existing models. Today it has thousands of users every month.
Deeper understanding of the cars
The purpose was to increase the technical understanding of the cars, supporting and preparing aftersales personnel for their daily tasks and operations. Describing how the cars are designed and work, it is an important tool for service technicians, trainers and technical support functions to raise the bar of technical understanding and ultimately serve customers in a better way.
Today the portal has thousands of users, with content available in nearly twenty languages.


From pilot to daily used portals
Aleido has managed the portal from a pilot project to a product that serves thousands of users globally in their day to day work. The concept has also been spread to another car company.
While project management, building processes and frameworks are central, the bulk work is the specific content creation, describing how the systems in each car work. The authouring system and portal solution are provided by other suppliers, but Aleido has had a cruicial role in setting requirements to support the overall solution.

Consistency
Instead of creating one-off publications for each car, information is structured the same way for all models. It makes it easy to compare models and find the information you are searching for fast.
Reuse
Explanation models for technologies that are shared between car models can easily be reused within the authoring system.
Efficient and sustainable updates
The portal has replaced printed books that were previously used to train and educate professionals about new car models. When there are updates, only the outdated information needs to be replaced. It is more gentle on our environment and more efficient for the author.
Access
The portal grants access to information when needed and information can reach a large, yet controlled, audience. Thanks to the easy updates, we can make sure everyone has access to the latest information.
Relevance
The combination of structured content creation, using metadata, and built-in logic in the portal makes is possible to filter data. This is a key fearure as the user can find specific information about a certain model, and still have the full line up of cars a few clicks away.


A collaborative partner
We often use our own, in-house developed systems for authoring and distributing information digitally. In this case, we have instead worked together with other suppliers, supporting our customers with system and portal requirements, to develop a complete solution that serves their needs.
