A memorable Intellectual Property for global consistency.

The training need
The client had faced difficulties with global consistency, and wanted to deliver training to ensure that Intellectual Property training could be communicated in a consistent manner across all business areas.
The solution needed to be suited to new starters as well as current employees. Due to the range in the target audience, scenarios needed to have relevance for all, reflecting everyday practices at Johnson Matthey. Additionally, the focus of CPD was moving away from face-to-face delivery, and so the design of the training needed to be memorable and engaging whilst retaining key learning objectives.

Specific requirements of the e-learning included:
- A portfolio of clearly structured, well written and succinct modules that focus on key learning points and principles for each topic.
- Attractive and value-adding bespoke graphics that reflect the learners’ potential working environments.
- Varied formative self-test exercises and activities that validate learning and ensure comprehension and retention.
Our bespoke learning solution
Through this contemporary suite of bitesize 15-minute modules, our solution allows the reader to process the information meaningfully and manageably. The modules are structured logically, allowing readers to go back and check information if needed, whilst channelling them forward on a linear learning path. This supports the goal of ensuring everyone has the same baseline knowledge.
For this portfolio of succinct modules, our user interface leans towards a simplified view, ensuring that the key messages stand out on their own and retain clarity. All modules include quick-access reference materials and signpost learners to further guidance and tools via a resources section.
The course features frequent interactive techniques designed to bring content to life. We have included regular knowledge checks to confirm the content is retained as well as quiz questions, to validate the learning and ensure comprehension. A notable supporting feature is the regular opportunity to interact and ‘uncover’ information through our flip card component. Whilst used at regular points throughout the module, it serves particularly well as a memory aid. The promotion of one learning point at a time prevents cognitive overload and better supports learner reflection – slowing down the speed of the learner for more meaningful reflection.
The design of these modules fosters learner engagement through vibrant infographics and imagery, which users can interact with at regular points to access more information and to track progress. One example is the colouration of the module menu, transitioning from black and white to colour as the learner completes each aspect of the module.
